R&D in e-Governance

e-Governance in India has steadily evolved from computerization of Government Departments to initiatives that encapsulate the finer points of Governance, such as citizen centricity, service orientation and transparency. The National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), takes a holistic view of e-Governance initiatives across the country, integrating them into a collective vision, a shared cause. Around this idea, a massive countrywide infrastructure reaching down to the remotest of villages is evolving and large-scale digitization of records is taking place to enable easy, reliable access over the internet. The ultimate objective is to bring public services closer home to citizens, as articulated in the NeGP vision statement.

R&D projects are invited in the area of e-governance. Some of the thrust areas could be electronic service delivery, web services, Trust & security, User  interaction & accessibility,  Geographical  Information  System , Cloud computing etc. Proposals are required to be submitted in the prescribed format available at http://www.mit.gov.in/content/schemes-and-policies under “R&D funding scheme.”

Projects get priority for financial support based on the area and relevance to the user organizations /industry. The grants are given to autonomous R&D and academic organizations. Funds are provided for capital equipment, software, manpower recruited specifically for the project and reasonable institute overheads, consumables, travel and contingencies.
