Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Promotion Program:

DIT has been actively promoting ICT-IPR through creating awareness, providing facilitation services and conducting IPR clinics, seminars etc., to enable the innovators benefit from their inventions. Also, recognizing the importance of technology in protecting IPR, development of tools and technologies as required to meet the challenges of the IPR, is also supported. The main activities of the division are:

• Provide facilitation support to file IPRs of DIT societies and grantee institutions.
• To publish technology alert report based on Patent Search System.
• Development of IPR tools and databases.
• IPR support and guidance for IPR issues in ICT sector.

Facilitation services are being provided by filing Patents, Copyrights, Designs and Trademarks in respect of creations / innovations of DIT scientific societies and for R&D projects supported by DIT. More than 350 IPRs that include 125 Patents, 180 software copyrights, 32 designs and 5 Trademarks and have been filed by DIT till date and and120 obtained. During the year 2009, 10 Patents, 12 software copyrights and 12 trademarks were filed. 8 patents were granted in the year making the total granted patents as 20. In additions 10 Trademarks and 12 copyrights were also granted in the year.
